Pepper Pike police officers investigating a traffic incident along an interstate barely avoided a vehicle after the driver lost control, slamming into two cruisers and another vehicle.

Ohio police officers had a close call during a New Year's Day traffic stop as they avoided an out-of-control vehicle that crashed into two cruisers.

The incident happened as Pepper Pike police were investigating a single-vehicle crash along Interstate 271, the department stated in a social media post. That's when the driver of another vehicle lost control and spun out onto the grass median where police were located.

The vehicle slammed into two police cruisers and the vehicle in the initial incident. Video from the scene shows officers scattering as the out-of-control vehicle skids onto the median.

No injuries were reported from the incident.

The driver was arrested for operating a vehicle impaired and improper handling of a firearm. The driver's blood-alcohol contested tested at 0.192, the department stated.
